Teachers Notes
Recently, I was involved in a situation where the lines between work and personal life were blurred. I had a community member send me a photo of a colleague via social media. This made me uncomfortable at first but I knew what I had to do in order to follow my responsibilities as a member of the teaching community.
In the end everything turned out okay but I wanted to share the steps I took in case any of my readers are going through a similar situation or need a reminder of what steps to follow should you ever find yourself in a similar situation.
1. Communicate with person who brought issue to attention and tell them you cannot discuss work related issues with them
2. Review TRB standards #2 and #4

3. Review BCTF code of ethics (clause 5)

4. Have a conversation with the teacher involved in the issue brought to your attention
Remember, you can always reach out to your administration to get their help when you encounter a situation that crosses lines of professional conduct. They are there to help you!
